    Job Title: Bookkeeper
    Opening: Part-time

    The islands premier Dog Emporium & Spaw is seeking a part time, (approximately 16 - 20 hours/week) bookkeeper to join their team. The successful candidate must have: Experience in accounting, knowledge of accounting principals and be proficient in Windward, QuickBooks, 123PET, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Only applicants on Hawaii will be considered. Position is available for immediate start.

    Maintains and records business transactions. Balances ledgers, reconciles accounts, and prepares reports. Follows bookkeeping procedures established by the organization. May require an associate's degree or its equivalent with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

    Job Title: Assistant to Owner/CEO & Store Manager (this position you will also need to have the skills as a store manager)

    General Purpose of Position:

    Be able to exercise good judgment and strong initiative. Have a high degree of flexibility, operate effectively in a developing environment and have a strong ability to handle multiple ongoing projects at the same time. Will work on assignments that are sensitive in nature with high-level contacts inside and outside the company, so the ability to keep confidentiality is of critical importance.     Tasks and Responsibilities:
    • Assist with administrative support.
    • Problem solving, program and project planning, development, and execution of stated goals and objectives for CEO.
    • Provide administrative support for the CEO; answer phones, schedule meetings, appointments and travel, initiate and prepare correspondence, research information and prepare reports as appropriate.

    Job Title: Manager for Emporium & Spaw (this position you also will be required to have the skills as a assistant to the owner)

    General Purpose of Position:

    Store Managers are ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the store. A Store Manager is a role model and leader, and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results. Responsibilities include managing sales and operations, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling personnel issues, accounting, merchandising, and loss prevention.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:
    • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified applicants to meet the store's needs.
    • Conduct orientation, train, coach, and manage all employees in execution of daily tasks and to maximize sales.
    • Maximize sales and measure sales performance on a daily basis by reference to class sales reports from year prior on same day
    • Coordinate sales promotion activities and pricing of merchandise.
    • Oversee floor moves, preparation of merchandise displays and presentations, exercising judgment and discretion in applying merchandising concepts and guidelines.
    • Oversee proper pricing of merchandise and ensure all price changes are made.
    • Facilitate proper communication between all departments and the owner’s assistant about comparative shopping analyses, fast and slow selling classifications and styles, planning and adjusting stock levels, and customer requests.

    • Oversee compliance of groomer artists, dog spaw technicians and sales associates with established Company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of Company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record-keeping procedures, and overall maintenance of the store.

    Job Title: Sales Associate
    Openings: Part-time

    General Purpose of Position:

    A Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets.

    Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.
    • Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
    • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping.
    • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor stock.

    • Employees will encounter stressful situations including, but not limited to: emotional clients, pet emergencies, and managing multiple priorities at once. All staff members must be able to manage stress in order to carry out the duties of the job in a calm and professional manner.
    • Employees will interact with many types of pets and should not be overly fearful of unfamiliar animals. All pets must be treated with kindness and respect at all times.
    • Follow OSHA standards and be familiar with Material Data Safety Sheets. Occupational hazards may include, but are not limited to: animal bite or scratch wounds and exposure to zoonotic diseases. Employees must follow all safety guidelines contained in the employee handbook and posted in hazardous areas.
    • Inform the Manager immediately of all bite or deep scratch wounds you suffer so that reports can be made and you can be referred for timely medical care by a physician if necessary. Clean all wounds quickly and thoroughly with surgical scrub.

    General Purpose of Position:

    Dog Spaw Technicians must have excellent communication skills and a strong dedication to outstanding client service. Dog Spaw Technicians are expected to meet and exceed client’s expectations for the quality of service provided from our facility. Dog Spaw Technicians must be able to empathize with clients and remain compassionate and well-mannered under all circumstances.

    Dog Spaw Technicians should have a firm belief in the quality of care provided and communicate this sense of assurance to our clients. Dog Spaw Technicians must learn and understand our health requirements for pets boarded or groomed at the facility and be able to clearly communicate the importance of these to our clients.

    Dog Spaw Technicians must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects; the dexterity and confidence to handle, bathe, and groom pets that may be scared or aggressive, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease.

    Dog Spaw Technicians must keep the grooming area clean and odor free as an essential part of the daily routine in order to provide for the comfort of pets and sanitation of the facility.

    Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Carry out all duties in a professional and courteous manner and remain respectful and polite in speech, tone, and actions under all circumstances.

    Skills and Competencies:
    • Training and experience in grooming common dog breeds.
    • Employees must be responsible to work the schedule they are assigned. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism is disruptive to patient care and client service and will not be accommodated.
    • All employees must be able to read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English both in person and on the telephone. Employees must have good oral and written communication skills including the ability to listen, talk, write, type, and otherwise communicate with professionalism and tact. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation are expected.
    • Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required.
    • Must be able to read a street map and give directions to the practice.
    • Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to assist in lifting patients or other objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work energetically for the entire assigned shift, sometimes exceeding 9 – 10 hours per day. The shift does not end until all duties are completed for the day or a supervisor dismisses the staff. Physical exertion will include: repetitive standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and lifting. Must be able to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects varying from small and fine to large and heavy with both hands. Employees must be able to safely and competently operate equipment pertinent to carrying out their duties.
    • Employees must physically hold and restrain pets that may struggle, scratch, or try to bite. This requires the emotional ability to remain calm and compassionate with animals that are reacting to fear and/or pain and the physical strength, dexterity, and reflexes to keep the pet, themselves, and other doctors or staff safe.
    • Employees must be able to recognize physical symptoms or medical problems, read medical instruments, and follow handwritten instructions.
    • Employees must be able to respond and quickly react to frequent auditory signals, warnings, or communication from other staff, animals, or medical equipment.
